What could have been a recipe for mourning in the camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, March 31, was deterred in Ondo state.

 

This was as gunmen nearly assassinated a lawmaker of the ruling party in the southwest state, Akogun Olùgbenga Omole.

Omole who verified the occurrence to TVC News said the terrible ordeal took place in Akure, the state capital.

A spectator admitted that the gunmen stormed the community at about 6pm and opened fire on the two persons.

 

Another resident of the community, who spoke on a situation of anonymity with the newspaper, depicted the killers as herdsmen who have allegedly been terrorising the local government.

 

The public relations officer of the state police command, Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said she would release details later.
